Questions + Answers

1. Why submit?

12 Inches of Sin is now in its eighth year and we have established a creditable reputation. 12 Inches of Sin and its curator, Sin City Gallery, provides opportunities for artists to exhibit, market and generate sales.

2. How is the competition juried?

Each entry and subsequent works of art will be based on individual merit. Each submitting artist will be contacted by the curator to discuss their work and process.

3. Why must 12 works of art be submitted per artist?

It is the desire of the exhibition to maintain the highest level of excellence. When an artist submits 12 works of art, it provides an opportunity for the curator to review the artist’s portfolio.

4. Are artworks larger than 12″ in size accepted?

Only artworks that are 12″ in size or under will be considered for exhibition.  However, it is possible for artists to submit works of art that are larger than 12″ in order to provide a full scope of skill and aesthetic; however, large works will not be considered for potential award. Dimensions for all works of art submitted must be provided.

5. May artists resubmit previously submitted artworks to the competition?

Yes.

6. Is there a creation date restriction for submissions?

No. Artists may submit older works of art; however, high resolution graphics must be available for the creation of an art catalog.

7. May past judges and winners submit to the exhibition?

Yes, past winners and judges are welcome to submit to the exhibition. This may seem unfair to those who have not exhibited or previously won Best in Show. It is the intent of 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery to elevate all artists, the exhibition and the genre. Each submitting artist will only be judged by skill and aesthetic, not by familiarity through existing personal or professional relationships.

8. Is it possible to submit additional images once the 12 works of art are received?

No, additional works of art will not be accepted; however, additional photographs or videos for submitted works of art may be requested to verify quality, size and better understand the artist’s process.

9. How do I submit videos?

If you are unable to submit a video thru the Entry Form, please contact drlaura@sincitygallery.com to process your videos.

10. How long can videos be?

Individual videos may be up to 2 minutes in length.

11. How will results of submissions be given?

All Artists will be notified of the results by email, social media and the 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery websites.

12. Are exhibition catalogs available?

The 12 Inches of Sin’s hardcover Art Catalogs, Volumes I-V, are available on this website.

Future online Art Catalogs will be available on Issuu.com. It will be possible to purchase an online Art Catalog in a printed format via Issuu. Viewing available online Art Catalogs will be free to the public.

13. Are Art Catalogs VI and VII available?

It is the hope that these Art Catalogs will be available in the near future. Several artists have not provided high resolution images of their artwork for the production of the Art Catalogs. Due to the inability to receive the necessary artwork to create Art Catalogs for VI and VII, 12 Inches of  Sin and Sin City Gallery are now requesting the 12 works of art by each artist to verify professionalism and dedication to their craft. 12 Inches of Sin and Sin City Gallery feels that distinguished art catalogs are one of the best platforms to support artists.

Each artist must submit 12 works of art per Entry. The fee is $50. There is also a $3.25 processing fee for each entry via Paypal.
